    How to use artificial flowers

Artificial flowers come in a wide range of colours, sizes and varieties. You may choose to add just one simple stem to a small vase in a powder room or create a grand floral arrangement for your entryway.
You can mix and match different flower varieties and colours to suit the season and your personal style.

How to arrange artificial flowers in a vase

    Choose the Right Vase

Select a vase that complements the style and size of your artificial flowers. Choose a vase with a wide opening to accommodate larger arrangements, or choose a narrower vase for a smaller display.

    Start with Greenery

Begin by adding greenery to the vase as a base for your arrangement. This provides structure and fills out the arrangement, creating a natural and balanced look. We will often start with something like our Forrest Green Eucalyptus or Green Eucalyptus Dollar Spray. The number of stems you will need to start your greenery base will depend on the size of your arrangement however we would generally recommend starting with at least three stems.

    Create a Focal Point

Choose two or three larger flowers or focal pieces to anchor the arrangement. If your arrangement will only be seen from one side place these focal points towards the front of the arrangement. If your flowers will be viewed from every angle spread these flowers around the arrangement evenly. Some of our favourite focal flowers are magnolias or dahlias

    Layer in Smaller Flowers

Once you have your focal point florals in place, add smaller flowers and filler pieces around it to fill out the arrangement. Mix and match different flower varieties and colours to create a dynamic and visually appealing display. Flannel flowers and wax flowers are a great option for these smaller flowers.

    Vary Heights and Textures

Experiment with different heights and textures to add dimension to your arrangement. Place taller flowers towards the back of the vase and shorter flowers towards the front to create a cascading effect.

    Use Odd Numbers

The golden rule of styling. When arranging flowers, it's often best to use odd numbers of flowers for a more natural and balanced look. Try grouping flowers in threes or fives to create visually pleasing arrangements.

    Adjust as Needed

Step back and take a look at your arrangement from different angles to ensure it looks balanced and cohesive. Don't be afraid to rearrange flowers or trim stems as needed to achieve the desired look.

Artificial flowers for events and special occasions

Faux flowers make beautiful accents for special occasions such as weddings, parties, or seasonal gatherings, adding a touch of charm and sophistication to any event.
With their lifelike appearance and long-lasting beauty, you don’t need to worry about them wilting on a hot day.

    Weddings

Artificial roses and artificial hydrangeas mixed with some artificial eucalyptus are a beautiful combination for wedding flowers. You can use them to decorate tables, and the ceremony and even create an everlasting bouquet for the bride.

    Christmas

Here in Australia, we love our native flora at Christmas time. You could use a mix of flannel flowers, wax flowers and eucalyptus to decorate your home for Christmas.
Garlands are a popular choice for decorating with artificial foliage at Christmas time.
They can be used over a mantlepiece, handrail or even along the centre of the Christmas table.

    Birthdays

Artificial flowers are a great option for decorating a birthday event. You can use small bunches of flowers in vases on cocktail tables or create a larger arrangement to go near the birthday cake.
We often spend big on birthday flowers as gifts for our friends for them to die mere days later. Why not gift them a bouquet of beautiful artificial flowers in their place? Not only will they look lovely but they will have this wonderful arrangement to keep in their home for as long as they like.

    Christening

When you’re looking to decorate for a Christening we recommend soft, light-coloured flowers like Sweet Peas. You can mix these with light-coloured foliage like our ivory coloured Eucalyptus.

What vase to use for artificial flowers

You can use any vase for artificial flowers however we tend to find they look more realistic when displayed in opaque vases like a ceramic or tinted glass vase.
A small vase is ideal if you are looking to add a little decorative touch to a small area like a bedside table or powder room. You might prefer something larger for a floral display in the living room or entryway.

    How to clean artificial flowers

Keeping your artificial flowers clean and dust-free is a simple yet effective way to ensure they look their best for years to come.
Start by gently dusting the flowers with a soft-bristled brush or a hairdryer set to a low, cool setting to remove any accumulated dust or debris.
For more stubborn dirt, you can lightly mist the flowers with water, then gently wipe them with a soft cloth or sponge.
Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the delicate petals or foliage.
To maintain the shape and appearance of the flowers, periodically fluff and reshape them as needed.
With regular cleaning and care, your artificial flowers will continue to look vibrant and beautiful, adding a touch of everlasting elegance to your home decor.

To keep your artificial flowers looking their best it’s also important to keep them out of direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to the harsh Australian sun can cause faux flowers and foliage to fade over time and could compromise the integrity of the adhesives used to construct these pieces.

Can artificial flowers be used outside

Artificial flowers are a great choice for decorating outside for an event or temporary occasion. Our flowers are not recommended to be exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time so they are best used inside for long-term displays.
If your outdoor area is well covered and protected from the weather you can absolutely use our artificial flowers and plants outside.

We can help you with your artificial flower arrangements!
